Arrival in Hong Kong

Well, I made it into Hong Kong safely at around 5.15pm HK time. The flight was OK, very long, but I had an exit seat so lots of leg room, but it was right next to the bathrooms so that wasn't too great!

Anyway, once I was off the plane I took the shuttle to the Royal Plaza Hotel and enjoyed a stunning ride through downtown HK on the way. It is a very green and humid place, full of densely packed cityscape's and amazing views. Close to the airport there are hundreds of busy dock yards, everything encircled by green luscious mountains as far as the eye can see. As we got closer to the hotel the scenery changes form huge skyscrapers to more local, suburban buildings, apartments, street markets and hotels. The mountains that surround the city are mostly cut off by the low level rain clouds that ominously hover above the buildings.Everything is just crammed into the tightest of spaces, it is an amazing sight, very 'Bladerunner'.

The hotel is nice, with great views (see pic below) and they have the usual 'Asian hotel style' breakfast which consists of just about anything you could possible want to eat, Asian or Western, hot or cold, halal, kosher, carb free, gluten free, vegan, ............anyway, you get the picture. I had eggs, just to be adventurous :)

So, for the last three days the Hong Kong people have be celebrating the 10 year anniversary of the hand over of Hong Kong, from the British. Last night I could see the fireworks in Victoria Harbour from my hotel window, it was pretty cool. Today is actually a holiday here so it is giving me some time to get over to the jet lag.
OK, that's it for now. Tomorrow I am off to the studio to get started, I'll post more soon. Bye :)
